The cheat sheet

The platforms we'd actually pick — at each budget.

No fluff, no 50-tool listicle. Just what we'd choose for each goal and budget.

Disclosure: Some links below are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you — it never changes our picks. We only list tools we'd genuinely use.

Budget: $0 · just starting
  • All-in-one (site + funnels + email + a course): Systeme.io — its free plan is unusually generous. Start here if you want one tool for everything.
  • Newsletter only: beehiiv — a free tier built for growth (referrals, recommendations, web + SEO).
Budget: ~$0–50/mo · serious newsletter
  • Pick beehiiv if growth + monetization (ads/boosts, paid subscriptions) is the goal.
  • Pick Kit (ConvertKit) if automations and selling digital products / a tip jar matter more.

Budget: ~$30–150/mo · all-in-one (courses + funnels + memberships)

FAQ

How is this different from your full rankings?

The cheat sheet is the at-a-glance version — one pick per goal per budget, no scoring breakdown. The full rankings (best newsletter platforms, best all-in-one platforms, best app builders) compare 5–8 leading platforms against specific criteria and explain why each ranks where it does. Use the cheat sheet to pick fast, then read the ranking that matches your situation before committing.

Why no 50-tool listicle?

Because the question creators actually have is "which one should I pick?", not "what exists?". A long listicle forces you to do the comparison yourself. The cheat sheet does the comparison for you — for each goal and budget, one pick, with the head-to-head comparison linked when two are genuinely close.

Do affiliate links change your picks?

No. Affiliate relationships never change where a tool sits in any pick. If a tool is a poor fit we say so even when we have an affiliate link for it, and we still recommend tools we don't have affiliate relationships with (Kit, Substack, Kajabi, Passion.io, Uscreen, Buildfire and others) when they're the honest right answer.

What if none of these budgets fit me?

If you're spending more than ~$150/mo on a single platform, or you're running a team with multiple seats, read the full ranking for the category that fits — those pages cover the higher-end and team-tier options the cheat sheet intentionally skips.
